Review: The DC15 Total Clean

First Impressions The name DC15 Total Clean can be a bit misleading. It turns out that this DC15 model only contains three add-on tools (only one more than the DC15 Animal): the stiff bristle brush, mattress tool, and mini-turbine head. However, it is the only vacuum that comes with the stiff bristle brush and mattress tool. The mini turbine head, made popular by the various Animal models, is the tool to have when you need to clean up hard-to-remove pet hair. The mattress tool we have also seen and used previously. It has proven to be quite effective at getting dust, hair, and other debris out of narrow, hard to reach places. The stiff bristle brush, like the mini turbine head, uses a combination of effective bristle action and suction power to ground-in dirt and debris.

Specifications and Features The DC15 Total Clean, like the DC14 version before it, has a fairly bleak appearance. It is the only vacuum in the entire dyson line-up that is entirely covered in gray. This may be a strong selling point for some, however, who do not prefer the bright colors found on most other models. It's also worth mentioning here how relatively easy it was to put this particular dyson together. The instruction manual has improved a bit, and everything seemed to fit together as it should. Customer service, as always, was very glad to help whenever we had a problem, however. Despite some significant changes in design, the DC15 Total Clean has basically the proportions as the previous DC14 model. Its dimensions are 44.09"H x 13.66"W x 11.41"D. Also, the vacuum weighs 19.95 pounds (a little heavier than the DC14) and is powered by a standard 10 amp motor (2 amps less than the DC14).
