Review of the Dyson DC15 All Floors cont.

Retail Price: $499

Being our first DC15 model to test, we were quite excited to get started. First off, the vacuum easily handled better than either the DC07 or DC14 models. The ball does seem to make a significant difference when turning around furniture (chairs, table, etc.) and within tight corners. The vacuum is also easier to handle with the center of gravity a bit lower than on the previous models.

Anyone who has seen pictures of the DC07/DC14 All Floors model will notice that the DC15 is very similar. It has taken on the familiar bright yellow color, and basic vacuum design. The major differences are the wide channel for large debris (which you can clearly see along the side of the vacuum) and the ball. It's really the best looking dyson vacuum we've seen - the ball, although very practical as well - adds a lot of style to an already stylish vacuum.

The DC15 All Floors

As with all other dyson vacuums before it, the DC15 All Floors did an excellent job picking up dust and debris from both carpet and hardwood flooring. We put down some large crumbs to test the large debris pickup center. We are pleased to report that the vacuum was able to pick up the large crumbs with ease. Usually there aren't objects on the floor to take full advantage of this system, but it's nice to know it's there if you need it.

We also used the telescope reach tool to clean the stairs and drapes. As always, it did a really good job at removing dirt and dust where you normally cannot reach it. At 37 feet long you really can drag the device almost anywhere you need it.

Our first look at the new DC15 "the ball" vacuum was definitely a positive one. Just as dyson claims on its website, the ball design does in fact aid in maneuverability and handling. We found the DC15 All Floors to be considerably easier to handle that the DC07 or DC14 All Floors, despite actually weighing a little more. This new design is likely to be revolutionary; we wouldn't be surprised if other manufacturers begin to produce similar designs. When thinking about purchasing the All Floors model, however, keep in mind that this is dysons base vacuum. It doesn't include any of the extra add-on tools found on some of the other DC15 models (such as the low reach floor tool, mattress tool, or mini turbine head). In fact, the All Floors is the only DC15 without a mini turbine head, which is excellent at removing pet hair.
