Review of the Dyson DC15 All Floors

Retail Price: $499

The DC15 All Floors represents our first look at the new DC15 "the ball" series of dyson vacuum cleaners. The DC15 is called appropriately called "the ball" because the vacuum actually utilizes a ball to turn and maneuver rather than the wheels found on traditional vacuums. In fact, the vacuum motor is actually located inside the ball, keeping the center of gravity low. Dyson claims that this allows the vacuum to twist and turn like no other vacuum, effectively navigating around furniture and in tight spaces.

As with the DC07 and DC14 version, the DC15 All Floors is essentially the base or bare bones model of the series. Some standard features found on the DC15 All Floors (and all DC15 vacuum models) includes the telescope reach tool, brush control, HEPA filter, motorized brush bar and more. Most of these features should sound familiar to you, as they are also found on DC07 and DC14 vacuums. Indeed, there is really only two very clear differences between the DC15 and DC14/DC07 models: the addition of a wide channel for large debris pick-up, and of course the new ball design.

Anyone who has seen pictures of the DC07/DC14 All Floors model will notice that the DC15 is very similar. It has taken on the familiar bright yellow color, and basic vacuum design. The major differences are the wide channel for large debris (which you can clearly see along the side of the vacuum) and the ball. It's really the best looking dyson vacuum we've seen - the ball, although very practical as well - adds a lot of style to an already stylish vacuum.

It's also worth mentioning here how relatively easy it was to put this particular dyson together. The instruction manual has improved a bit, and everything seemed to fit together as it should. Customer service, as always, was very glad to help whenever we had a problem, however.

Despite some significant changes in design, the DC15 All Floors is largely the same size and weight as the previous DC07/DC14 models. Its dimensions are 44.09"H x 13.66"W x 11.41"D. Also, the vacuum weighs 19.95 pounds (a little heavier than the DC14) and is powered by a standard 10 amp motor (2 amps less than the DC14).
