We tested the DC14 Full Access on a variety of surfaces including car upholstery and the sofa. The basic vacuum is much like all the other dyson DC14s, and performed as such. It did very well on both carpet and hardwood flooring. We used the brush control to turn off the brush when we cleaned the hardwood flooring. Doing so helps save the flooring from any potential damage the brushes may incur. The root cyclone technology never quite ceases to amaze us, along with all the dirt and debris it can pull out of carpeting and upholstery.
The low access turbine head was used to get underneath a bed, chairs, and a variety of other furniture items. It had great suction power, but we noticed that it couldn't quite fit under some of the lowest sitting furniture. There is a bump just above the brushes that keeps it from fitting under anything less than six inches off the ground. It's possible that this tool simply wasn't made for such low cleaning - that's what the low reach floor tool is for. If you really need to get completely under your furniture (and who doesn't), you may want to consider a vacuum with the low floor tool instead. This detail was a bit disappointing.
The DC14 Full Access Turbine Head
We proceeded to use the vacuum and flexi crevice tool on the car upholstery. As usual, the flexi crevice tool did a great job getting in between and under the car seats. The device is certainly thin enough to go where you need it to, but the fact that it is actually flexible makes it even better. You can bend it as needed to get far down into those cracks (whether between car seats or couch cushions) where plenty of debris has accumulated.
The DC14 Full Access is fairly good all-around DC14 vacuum model. We don't think the title "full access" is entirely appropriate, however, since the vacuum does not come with the low reach floor tool - the only tool capable of reaching far enough under furniture to be effective. We highly suggest you compare the tools available with this model to others. You may find you need a different combination of tools to get the job done.
