Review of the Dyson DC07 Animal cont.

The Animal turbo tool is really the prized component of this particular vacuum. The tool contains a powerful air-powered brushbar that is specially designed to pull up as much pet hair as possible from carpet and upholstery. This is the one feature pet owners have been waiting for for quite some time. Of course, the suction power of the cyclone powered vacuum makes sure that any hair the brushbar is able to comb up actually gets into the dust canister. In addition, the turbo tool was small enough to fit down in between our couch pillows, effectively pulling out the pet hair trapped there. We can certainly see this tool also being used in the car to clean in and under car seats.

The carpet care kit complements the turbo tool. The Zorb powder does a pretty good job at absorbing dirt so that it is picked up more easily, while the Dysolv spray easily facilitated the removal of annoying grease, food and soil spots.

Everyone should be pleased to know that the DC07 Animal also comes with the low reach floor tool found of the DC07 low reach model. This makes it much easier to clean under those hard to reach furniture items, such as beds and couches.

The dyson DC07 Animal did surprisingly well on both carpet and hardwood flooring. Perhaps not quite as good as the DC07 All Floors, but pretty close. We always enjoy watching the dust and debris being sucked off the floor, swirled around in the chambers, and finally deposited into the collection bin. As with all dyson vacuums, the sheer suction power of the vacuum is quite impressive. It was really nice having the low reach and animal turbo tool as well. There was very little floor surface in the house we could not clean with this device.

The 17-foot hose with a reversible, extension-wand handle (found all all dyson vacuum models) is great to have. Yet, this too requires some muscle to work with, as the elasticity of the cord (at least at first) is quite powerful. Finally, emptying the vacuum wasn't a problem at all; you simply take out the dust canister and dump the contents into the trash can. Be sure, however, to briefly inspect the area between the rubber seal and canister rim, as dust may get trapped there on occasion.

The downsides? The vacuum tends to be so heavy and so powerful that it does actually take some muscle to move around. And after a while, it may put some strain on your wrist and elbow. It's power is also a problem around area rugs, which tend to get pulled up by the vacuum, especially around the edges.

The DC07 Animal is the obvious choice for pet owners who don't want to pay a little extra for the DC07 Full Gear (which comes with an extended 1 year extra warranty, but is otherwise the same as the Animal). The animal turbo tool is absolutely effective at what it was designed for: picking up pet hair. Though we could only test the device against cat hair (and plenty of it), it should do just as well with dog hair. Though it takes a little extra effort to clean those sofas, you will certainly appreciate how clean they look. For most pet owners, the DC07 Animal is everything you've been waiting for.
