Review of the Dyson DC07 Animal
Retail Price: $499
The Dyson DC07 Animal is usually the first vacuum of the DC07 series people look to when they are desperate to clean up unwanted pet hair their old vacuum simply can't get. It's what the Animal was designed for, hence the name. The basic design of the DC07 Animal is much like the All Floors or Low Reach model with two notable exceptions: the Animal turbo tool and carpet care kit. These features, however, can also be found on the DC07 Full Gear model as well. The only difference is usually $30 to $50 in cost.
Being our third vacuum to review, the DC07 Animal wasn't all that difficult to put together. For those without the experience, however, you will probably need to look over the instruction manual a couple times, and get to know the people over at dyson customer support. While the dyson vacuums are not the easiest to put together, they sure look good when they are finished.
Like other dyson vacuums, the DC07 Animal has a nice modern look to it. The default color scheme for this model is purple and gray, which certainly calls attention to itself. Other than the color scheme and extra tool (which we will cover shortly), the DC07 Animal has pretty much the same style as the other dyson models already covered. Few vacuums are anywhere near as attractive.
The Dyson DC07 Animal model is the same size as the earlier All Floors model at 46.1" tall, 14.0" wide, and 13.4" from front to back.
The base weight of the vacuum is also approximately 19 pounds. This would be considerable weight if the vacuum didn't maneuver so well. Finally, the vacuum is driven by a standard 12-amp motor.
It is not the number of amps, however, that determines how powerful this particular vacuum is. Like all dyson vacuums, the secret to its outstanding suction power lies in the patented dyson Cyclone air path design. A specially designed chamber with eight separate compartments that create 100,000 g of centrifugal force. All of the dirt and dust you have just vacuumed up gets thrown out of the air and towards the sides of the compartments, where they end up in the vacuum's 1-gallon collection canister. Because the air path remains unobstructed by the incoming debris, the vacuum is able to maintain 270 air watts of powerful, consistent suction. In the end, this translates into more undesirable material being lifted out of your carpet and into the vacuum canister.
For those who suffer from in-door allergies, you will be pleased to know that the DC07 Animal also comes with a 412 square inch HEPA filter. The HEPA filter is specifically designed to filter out microscopic particulates and allergens that the regular filtration system may miss. The filter is made to be durable, and should last as long as the vacuum itself.
