Review of the Dyson DC07 All Floors
Retail Price: $399
The dyson DC07 All Floors model is often considered the "original" dyson vacuum. It was the first of the series to claim no reduction in suction for the life of the vacuum, and it is still one of the best selling dyson vacuums today.
As with all dyson vacuums, the first thing one notices when inspecting the vacuum (or vacuum box) for the first time, is the weight of the machine. It's quite nimble on the floor, as we will soon explain, but when you need to pick it up you may momentarily wish you had purchased something lighter. At nearly 20 pounds it is one of the heavier vacuums available.
Dyson vacuums are no different from most in that they must be assembled out of the box. This was not an easy task. The instruction manual left some questions, which were promptly answered by toll-free phone support. Be advised that the DC07 All Floors is commonly sold as a "barebones" package, leaving most add-on accessories to be purchased separately.
Once we got the DC07 All Floors constructed, we were immediately impressed by its striking design. The yellow and gray colors are nearly perfect compliments, giving the device an edgy, modern look that easily catches people's attention.
The Dyson DC07 model is a fairly good-sized vacuum at 46.1" tall, 14.0" wide, and 13.4" from front to back. The base weight of the vacuum is approximately 19 pounds, though the weight will increase with the addition of add-on components. A 12 amp motor powers the vacuum, which is fairly standard among higher-end vacuum cleaners.
The secret to the vacuum's suction power lies in the patented dyson Cyclone air path design. A specially designed chamber with eight separate compartments that create 100,000 g of centrifugal force. All of the dirt and dust you have just vacuumed up gets thrown out of the air and towards the sides of the compartments, where they end up in the vacuum's 1-gallon collection canister. Because the air path remains unobstructed by the incoming debris, the vacuum is able to maintain 270 air watts of powerful, consistent suction. In the end, this translates into more undesirable material being lifted out of your carpet and into the vacuum canister.
For those who suffer from in-door allergies, you will be pleased to know that the DC07 also comes with a 412 square inch HEPA filter. The HEPA filter is specifically designed to filter out microscopic particulates and allergens that the regular filtration system may miss.
